The Justin Chancellor Cry Baby Wah is a sonic masterpiece, combining three distinct effects into a single pedal: a custom midrange filter, a custom wah circuit, and a vintage fuzz. This pedal perfectly complements bass player Justin Chancellor's multi-dimensional role in the band Tool. Justin's innovative use of effects on the bass helps to compose the band's multi-layered tunes, whether he is opening up soundscapes with chords and harmonics or syncing up with guitarist Adam Jones for arresting single-note unison runs.

The Cry Baby Wah features U.K. Filter and Wah modes, providing two tone-warpingly distinct variations. The U.K. Filter mode uses a solid-state circuit to emulate the unique filtering of Justin's own instrument, creating thick and throaty tones with pronounced peaks. This mode perfectly captures his melodic, voice-like phrasing from the Tool track "The Patient," and when combined with the built-in fuzz, it produces smooth, synth-like tones. On the other hand, the Wah mode uses a classic red Fasel Inductor and modified circuitry for a more aggressive sound and lush harmonics, cutting through with electric fire when combined with the built-in fuzz circuit.

Each mode can be customized with separate Volume and Q controls, allowing smooth transitions between the two with the Wah Select footswitch. The pedal's custom circuitry maintains the thickness and heft of the low end, boosting the clean signal at 400Hz and blending it with the effect signal at the beginning of the rocker's sweep.

The pedal includes Justin's go-to fuzz, based on a vintage UK device that cuts through the mix with a tight focus while retaining the thunderous heft of a bass signal. The U.K. Filter mode and the Wah mode can be engaged individually or combined with the built-in fuzz for different effects.

Additionally, the pedal comes with the Tonebird bundle, featuring 2 MXR Patch Cables, a Groovetech guitar multi-tool, a Tonebird TB9V 1500 mA 9V power supply, Dunlop electric guitar picks, a deluxe Dunlop microfiber cloth, and Dunlop polish. This ensures that players have everything they need for a complete and versatile setup.
